Martin Parr @ Light House
Black Country Stories
Exhibition: July 27 – September 30, 2011
Light House Gallery in Wolverhampton presents Martin Parr’s latest photography exhibition Black Country Stories this July. The Magnum photographer who, throughout his distinguished career has investigated ordinary life in Great Britain, will also be at Light House to present a talk on his practice, inspirations and work. After a year documenting life in the Black Country exploring modern day society and the cultural make up of the region, Parr has painted a portrait of British life from his own unique perspective, creating an archive for the future. Black Country Stories was commissioned by Multistory, a local community arts organisation, and captures and celebrates everyday Black Country living and working.
