Dawoud Bey @ Silver Eye Center for Photography
Class Pictures
Exhibition: January 10 – March 10, 2012
Reception: January 13, 6 – 8:30pm
For 15 years, Dawoud Bey made striking, large-scale color portraits of students at high schools across the United States. Depicting teenagers from a wide economic, social and ethnic spectrum–and intensely attentive to their poses and gestures–he has created a highly diverse group portrait of a generation that intentionally challenges teenage stereotypes.
Class Pictures is on view from January 10 through March 10, 2012. This traveling exhibition and accompanying publication were produced by Aperture, a not-for-profit organization devoted to photography and the visual arts.
