During a visit to a second hand store, photographer Jeff Phillips discovered more than 1,000 unmarked slides of a middle-age couple who traveled the world in the 1950s. In his quest to discover their identities, he created the Facebook page “Is This Your Mother?” and regularly posted pictures. A social media search party emerged, and after some dramatic and humorous twists and turns, Phillips found his answer. The exhibit, “Lost and Found: The Search for Harry and Edna,” chronicles both Phillips’ quest and reveals what happens when viewers are free to interpret other peoples’ photographs without context.
