Eliška Bartek – “Secret Photography”
7th February until 18th March
In search of the ” autonomous image”, of motives beyond the prototype nature, is where the artist Eliška Bartek takes us. Her work can be seen in the tradition of Jaromir Funke, who recognized in the photogram a ” photographic poetry, which reveals the form”. The Austrian art historian Timm Starl pointed out that the protagonists of the photogram always described their technology as a method beyond the photographic. Starl writes: “The photogram is the track, while the photograph calls attention only.” Eliška Bartek was born 1950 in Novy Jicin in Czechoslovakia and is now living in Berlin and Tessin (Switzerland).
