Annie Seaton: Indigo
November 19th through December 3, 2016
Reception: Saturday November 19th, 3pm – 5pm
In “Indigo,” Annie Seaton again uses photography to evoke the pure joy she associates with time spent at the beach. These images are about the surf culture in Malibu, Venice and Kona, Hawaii. “The beach became a sanctuary to our everyday lives.” Memory is a definite theme–her scenes portray a much-valued, unstructured, free time. The photos are printed, bound and dyed using the ancient Shibori dye technique and hand sewn into a quilt-like object to create her finished pieces. The multi-panel quilts combine the individual pieces to become the total environment and one unique object.
