Burnt Generation: Contemporary Iranian Photography
APRIL 21 – JULY 10, 2016
The group exhibition Burnt Generation: Contemporary Iranian Photography takes the complex history and troubled politics of Iran as its backdrop. With photography ranging from documentary photojournalism to elaborately constructed tableaux, together the images in this exhibition replace familiar stereotypes with personal and cultural narratives of social upheaval. The exhibition’s title is borrowed from a phrase used by Iranians born between 1963 and 1980 whose youth was marked by the Islamic Revolution in 1979.
