MARK DE PAOLA & DARRYL SIVAD @ Leica Store & Gallery Los Angeles
MARK DE PAOLA: 60 SECONDS
JUNE 15 – JULY 18, 2016
Opening reception: THURSDAY, JUNE 16, 2016, 6PM-9PM
Mark de Paola’s “60 Seconds” delves into a realm of abstract figures, fluidity, and poetic forms, challenging and seducing the limits of motion contained within still image. With each photograph taken handheld with a 60 second exposure, de Paola has discovered the connection between his physiological make up, the Leica camera as a tool, and time, the unflinching competitor to the timeless image.
DARRYL SIVAD: WALL STREET
JUNE 15 – JULY 18, 2016
Opening reception: THURSDAY, JUNE 16, 2016, 6PM-9PM
Darryl Sivad’s painterly abstract “portraits of architecture” were derived from his aesthetic appreciation for walls as art. Sivad’s unique vision reveals character in the cracks and beauty in the textures of often-overlooked structures in our everyday lives. He photographs these walls and entitles them after the streets where they are found. The mixture of decaying paint, energy of color, and distinctive markings create the canvas for Sivad’s Wall Street Series.
