Pairs @ Pace/MacGill Gallery
Pairs
May 10 through August 24, 2018
“Pairs, an ensemble of works by Diane Arbus, Yto Barrada, Aneta Bartos, William Christenberry, Robert Frank, Emmet Gowin, Paul Graham, Peter Hujar, Richard Learoyd, Richard Misrach, Yoshitomo Nara, Susan Paulsen, Irving Penn, Lucas Samaras, Kiki Smith, Saul Steinberg and Garry Winogrand, among others….
Many of the showcased works depict sets of subjects—a couple sunbathing on their lawn, siblings wrestling in the grass, two New York City women walking their dogs—while others, such as Richard Learoyd’s Jasmijn away from Light / Jasmijn to the Light, 2010, present two-panel portraits of the same subject taken from different angles.”
