David Obermeyer: Strong Futures
November 1 – 30
Opening Reception: November 1 | 6 – 9 PM
“This series of portraits was made over the last few years at St. Sabina Church’s Strong Future initiative, which addresses the needs of disconnected young adult males, between the ages of 18-28, who are justice-involved and/or have other barriers to stability, by connecting them with full-time employment. Obermeyer states, “My hope is that these portraits expose an invisible part of our city, the part that through racism and neglect remains unseen and forgotten. That this invisible part of our city is able to attain what all strive for: food, shelter, work that is rewarding and a chance to provide for our families.” ”
