INTA RUKA “PEOPLE I KNOW”
January 16 to March 24, 2019
Opening of the photo exhibition Wednesday, January 16, 2019 from 19h
“Heir of Walker Evans, Dorothea Lange or August Sander, Inta Ruka is part of the tradition of anthropological photography. By focusing on the characters that make up the rural Latvia today, the Baltic artist revives his own history and his childhood, at a time when his country was part of the Soviet Union. Artisan of universal beauty, it captures the soul, humanity of a people. Each of his images reveals the complicity qu’Inta Ruka has with those she photographs. These faces without artifice are magnified by the only natural light. His black and white portraits give us a breath of melancholy freshness and freedom. ”
