Tommaso Protti: Amazônia @ Saatchi Gallery
Tommaso Protti: Amazônia
9 June until 18 July 2021
Protti has used the financial and practical support from the Carmignac Foundation to create Amazônia, travelling thousands of miles across the Brazilian Amazon to create this reportage accompanied by British journalist Sam Cowie. He portrays life in modern day life there, where social and humanitarian crises overlap with the ongoing destruction of the rainforest. Due to the delays in exhibiting the work in London, Protti returned again to the Brazilian Amazon last Summer to witness and document how the communities were coping with the coronavirus pandemic and a selection of those later images are also included in the exhibition.
