Wolfgang Vollmer & Henry Rox @ FOTOHOF
Wolfgang Vollmer – Projects 2010-2020
Henry Rox – Photographs 1935-1955
January 26th – April 3rd, 2021
“Wolfgang Vollmer’s work deals with the medium of photography in a variety of ways. It’s about collecting, researching, re-evaluating and repeating, less about recording and capturing a particular scene. Wolfgang Vollmer examines the media-immanent conditions, dissolves what seems to be taken for granted and then builds them up again in a controlled manner. Photography here is the question of reality, perception and artistic subjectivity.”
“The almost forgotten German-American artist, sculptor and photographer Henry Rox (1899-1967) is honored for the first time in a separate publication – the Henry Rox Revue . His photographic invention of living fruit sculptures forms the connection between the surreal experiments of Man Ray, the transformations of pop art and the ironic shifts in values of Fischli and Weiss.”
