“Christian Wachter’s work show “Concept versus Photography” takes place in cooperation with the Photo Gallery Vienna. The Fotogalerie Wien, currently without space due to renovations, is realizing exhibitions with friendly institutions in Austria and abroad during this transitional year – the first host and cooperation partner in Austria is the FOTOHOF.
In the exhibition series “WERKSCHAU” we are showing together with Christian Wachter (*1949 in Oberwart) a retrospective overview exhibition on an outstanding work of contemporary Austrian photography. Wachter is an early representative of Austrian auteur photography, who soon opened up to politically reflective conceptual photography in his work − an area of tension that is also reflected in his exhibition title and in his expansive exhibition concept, which goes beyond the usual chronology of a retrospective retrospective”
