“Elfie Semotan is rightly regarded as the grande dame of Austrian photography, whose work has been documented in numerous exhibitions and publications and is generally associated with fashion and editorial portrait photography in the public eye. With a large exhibition spanning more than 50 years of work, the FOTOHOF is now focusing on the artist’s previously little-known private photo archive in order to honor and position her as one of the early and important protagonists of author: interior photography in Austria.
For All personal , we have set ourselves the task of opening and viewing the private archive in cooperation with the photographer and her studio team. The focus is on the family, the artistic circle of friends, landscapes and still lifes as existential metaphors.”
