Artist talk will be on Zoom on Wednesday, August 24th at 5pm (MST)

“Artists Meggan Gould and Andy Mattern explore different photographic guidelines and tools in the exhibition Industry Standard to push the boundaries of what we think of as a photograph. Mattern, inspired by once-popular “Kodaguides” and original desktop patterns found on early Apple computers, delivers new images that don’t fit neatly within the box of the medium. Gould’s work infuses flexibility into the often rigid structures of photography by freeing pigmented ink from the printer into other objects, like thread that is then used for stitching. Together, Gould and Mattern create a visual conversation about how photographic tools and conventions can be rethought in order to expand the notions of what we can expect and accept from the medium.”
