Panos Kasimis: The Immediacy of Desire

“The exhibition “The Immediacy of Desire” focuses on empathy in Kasimis’ work, which stimulates his curiosity for our common deeper humanity and shapes his photographic decisions. Whether photographing personal and family moments or theatrical performances, high fashion or night parties, the lens of P. Kasimis discreetly and uninterruptedly follows his subjects, highlighting the soul and the connections between different people and situations. A tender touch, some intertwined limbs, the flesh that is grabbed in a tight hug or a dance, a child’s play, a meal, Panos Kasimis catches the moment, but his moments represent the essence and atmosphere rather than the main scene. As he observes the human being, he is not looking for the perfect moment or pose, he connects with them and records actions and interactions: “I try to embrace the souls of the people, regardless of their conditions.” Panos doesn’t identify his subjects or comment on them. He captures the flow of movements, dialogues, glimpses and touches. His photography is so physical that it gives us the impression of experiencing the smells, sounds and flavors as if we were there.”
