Paula Bronstein: UKRAINE: THE CONSEQUENCES OF WAR
until the 12th of August
“The series of photographs will provide us with heartbreaking insight into the present lives of the Ukrainian people, sharing with us their pain, loss and hope.
Paul Bronstein, award winning documentary photographer, shared her thoughts about the upcoming exhibition, “Covering the war in Ukraine has been unlike any other conflict I have ever experienced. I have documented dozens of funerals and shared tears with family members as they buried their loved ones. The most emotional was an epic memorial for Roman Ratushny, a well-known civic activist, who was only twenty-four when he was killed on June 9, 2022. Roman represented everything that the Russian regime is trying to destroy in Ukraine, and I felt all the emotion pour out of the mourners who grieved for him, who were trying to come to terms with the loss of a young talent. In Bucha, I witnessed the war crimes committed with my camera, which were truly horrific. It was the first time I had ever seen bodies with their hands tied, their lifeless forms abandoned behind buildings alongside garbage left by Russian soldiers.””
