Gerald Domenig and Andrea Witzmann
August 4 – September 30, 2023

Opening: Thursday, August 3, 2023, 7 p.m

“Gerald Domenig and Andrea Witzmann give the real world a touch of emptiness and enigmatic silence. Despite the different formal execution, the works of both artists are characterized by the precise creative work on the image and the content-related references to fine art, architecture, literature and philosophy.

In his exhibition concept, Gerald Domenig focuses on the topic of house/architecture: “The Volle Wand A is a rough collage of architectural photography, a second, elegant section refers to a prank of the bourgeoisie, namely having built a house without windows. GD provides a remedy. Thirdly, there is a door box somewhere in front of which young and old visitors can have their picture taken. There is also a seating area where you can delve into a so-called artist book« (Domenig)
As a radical expression of a state of mind in a world that seems to have gotten out of joint, Andrea Witzmann shows a dozen large-format color images that come from the last two years and fit seamlessly into her work tradition. She says: »I see, I photograph, I look and build, I see and photograph. Which recording constitutes space? Which space generates freedom? The effects of now won’t be felt for a few years, so let’s live in the moment! Everything that is not forbidden can be lived out without consequences against better knowledge!« (Witzmann)”
