KANGHEE KIM: Still Dreaming
on view until February 24, 2023
“KangHee was a child of the DACA program, now a young adult who is still living within the confines of this complex bureaucracy of citizenship. As an artist always subjugated to the confinement of the American border, she was no stranger to restriction at the beginning of the pandemic. Her work deepened an existing practice that melds the iconography of the dream state with that of the everyday. Her works are a result of the tension between the two, and in lockdown, she turned ever inward expanding her collage like compositions skyward marrying the aspirational with the everyday of her New York surroundings.”
