NICK BRANDT – THE DAY MAY BREAK CHAPTER II
until March 4, 2023
“This is the first time that this part of the world series “The Day May Break” by Nick Brandt has been exhibited in France. The first chapter, visible a year ago at the Polka gallery, presented portraits of animals and men impacted by climatic disasters in Africa. For the second chapter of “The Day May Break”, the British artist traveled to Bolivia in the spring of 2022. It had been more than twenty years since the photographer had worked outside Africa. As with the first part, the men, women and children who agreed to be photographed have all suffered tragedies linked to the consequences of global warming. Episodes of extreme drought, devastating floods… their homes and their lives have been partly destroyed. The animals come from the Senda Verde Animal Sanctuary, a refuge located in the Yungas region where animals victims of the destruction of their natural habitat or traffickers are collected and saved.”
