Tomio Seike @ Hamiltons Gallery
Tomio Seike: Eighty
26 January – 11 March 2023
“Hamiltons first exhibited Seike in 1989 showcasing his first series of nudes. Following the exhibition he extended the series to further experiment with size and abstraction, thus creating the otherworldliness quality that became so predominant in his practice. When photographing nudes Seike preferred to use ordinary people, “as you see them everyday” to models and well known people. It is the notion of the everyday that extends to photographs of Paris and Waterscapes where, using only natural light to capture, he captures the quiet moments in life that most people fail to notice. ”
