Ethan James Green @ Kapp Kapp
Ethan James Green
Sep 5–Oct 26
Opening reception: September 5, from 6–9PM
“Bombshell is a stunning continuation of Green’s photography work, which has made him an invaluable documentarian of contemporary queer New York. His yearslong project of capturing the city’s cis, trans, and nonbinary figures – many of whom have remained close friends as their stars ascend – finds a glamorous new outlet, redefining a 20th century notion through his distinctly 21st century intimacy and grit.
For this body of work, Green builds on his well-known collaborations with friends, this time inviting them to embody their own version of what the “bombshell” archetype can mean. Green says “creation comes naturally” when working with a talented circle, and views his photographs here as documentation of the collaboration between his subjects and hair stylists Lucas Wilson, Jimmy Paul, and Sonny Molina.”
