Scenescape
08.06.2024 – 24.11.2024
Opening Saturday 8 June 2024 from 11 AM to 6 PM
Scenescape is the twenty-third exhibition organized by the Rolla Foundation. The introductory text by Philip Rolla explains the proposed theme: “By chance or by choice, everything we see transforms into a scene before our eyes. This scene can be simple, made almost of nothing, complex, sophisticated or banal, but it remains however a scene, perhaps just for an instant, or perhaps for a longer period of time, becoming part of our visual memory. Our collection includes numerous photographs that capture the most basic nature: a tree, a shrub, a wall , the profile of a horizon, some almost nothing, but each of them contains a beauty that perhaps cannot be described but which we can instead perceive.”
The photographers on display are Robert Adams, Lewis Baltz, Vincenzo Castella, Giuseppe Chietera, Aline d’Auria, Ray K. Metzker, Linda Fregni Nagler, Jan Koster, Josef Koudelka, Francine Mury, Igor Ponti, Luciano Rigolini, Philip Rolla, Josef Sudek, Hiroshi Sugimoto, John Szarkowski and Fabio Tasca.
