UNKNOWN: Anonymous Views of Salzburg

“Cities are both real and imaginary places. Their physical conditions are closely linked to an imaginary dimension, which is fed not least by their images. The exhibition “Unknown – Anonymous Views of Salzburg” is dedicated to those properties of photography that give us a seemingly concrete and at the same time blurred idea of historical reality. As part of the cooperation “Salzburg Museum – Guest Performance”, the FOTOHOF is showing the works of anonymous authors from the Salzburg Museum’s photo collection. With a view to the former Salzburg, reflections are initiated on the nature of photography as a documentation medium, a substitute for memory and a much-controversial art form.”
