“Through a series of photographs, simulated images, fragments of text, and personal archives from his youth, Thomas Nolf explores the human obsession with aviation and the quest for escape.
As a child dreaming of becoming a pilot, Thomas Nolf installed the latest version of the flight simulator — Microsoft Flight Simulator — on his computer during the lockdown. This virtual journey inspired him to meet amateur pilots, visit airports frequented by plane spotters, and explore iconic locations like Miniatur Wunderland in Hamburg, home to the world’s largest model airport. Between 2020 and 2024, he traveled the globe for this project.”
