Elena Efeoglou & Jozef Uruk —
I've never been to Mexico, I've never been to Greece
It was Sunday. It was a foggy morning atop the verdant mountainside as you peered into the distance contemplating the passing of time, the clouds drifting by. You were in Mexico far from the capital but not far from it when you saw it on a map. You weren't alone. You were taking pictures. The view was breathtaking, you thought. You set yourself up and 'click,' you took your photograph to reflect back on in this little adventure.
It must have been Sunday, though you are not quite sure. Let's imagine it was indeed Sunday. You were not alone. It was after a 30-minute hike to get to the top of the verdant mountainside. You saw the clouds below you drifting by; this made you pensive and sad. “Our lives are ephemeral like these drifting clouds.” The sight was engrossing, yet calm. You grabbed your camera from your purse and holding it firmly with both hands you took your shot. 'Click.'
I've never been to Mexico; I've never been to Greece is a fictional account of two artists' take on the similarities their respective countries share. Using as a basis elements from the Multiverse they imagined themselves as two, or maybe, one photographer who would take the same picture regardless of the location whether it be in Mexico or Greece or anywhere else. So close, yet so far away.
