Our photo collaboration highlights a brief anatomy of life on two continents. Playing with chance, we set out to the 'street' to capture its essence inspired by our favourite photography greats: Eugène Atget, André Kertész, Lee Friedlander, Garry Winograd, Henri-Carter Bresson…(to name a few). One of us would shoot for a few days and email their best shots to the other and then waited to see how and what the images provoked.
The result: 2 months of the urban texture of Gerd's Europe and my Canada documented in uncomplicated black and white, (so not to "confuse color with noise," - Walker Evans).
Richelle lives in Canada and Gerd lives in Germany.
