"Single live pregnancy. Embryo, fetus, threatened miscarriage.
A bean, a tiny butterfly with tickling wings, baby, human.
Your heart beat so hard I felt it in my throbbing temples.
All I had to do was put my hand on my belly, and you cuddled up to it.
You kicked at night when I fought for every minute of sleep.
And then, the fight for that first breath, and your cry. You were no
longer part of me. You were yourself. You are yourself. And you're writing a new story.
"Prologue" is a story about fear, hope and family - an attempt to master the feelings that accompanied me and my wife Ula in difficult times. This is a story about the crisis of pregnancy and parenting. About how to be together when the common goal is to report, give birth and raise a child. It's a story about victory.
